Studying in the UK universities has always been of a prestigious notion. It is a tough NO to say when it comes to spending most of the life cascaded in this place of vintage art, history and not to forget, the chips!

However, studying in UK universities is no piece of cake. The humongous sum that gets spent during these years seems to be daunting. In fact, one of the major downfalls of studying here is their poor financial support structure. The reason behind this lack can be accounted for the lack of endowments, unlike the US universities.

You must be thinking that how in the world are you going to overcome the fulsome tuition fees of these universities, right?

What if you learn that there are plausible ways of getting past this barrier and realising your lifelong dream of studying abroad?

      Curious yet? Let’s dig in!

5 universities of the UK that come with scholarships for international students

      1. Cambridge University (England)

International Scholarships – It consists of 4 scholarships such as:

      • International Disabled Student Fund
      • Prince Philip Scholarship for students coming from Hong Kong
      • College awards
      • Cambridge Commonwealth and European International Trust Awards

Tuition Fee – $25,385 to $66,290 USD annually.

      1. Oxford University (England)

It consists of 5 international scholarships depending on the students’ host country. Accommodation cost and general tuition fees cost are paid by them.

International fee comes around $20,383 to $30,665 USD every year.

      • London College University (London)

This university comprises about 15 unique scholarships that are based on financial needs and merit of undergraduate students.

The international tuition of this college comes around $21,607 to $43,201 USD/year.

      1. Nottingham University

The Nottingham University consists of a whopping number of 30 scholarships that are offered either by the university or through individual departments.

Their fees come around $18,523 – $22,414 USD annually.

      1. Bristol University, England

Having an international fee charge that ranges from $20,889 to $46,803 USD on a yearly basis, this university has 6 scholarships. These scholarships are given by following a particular program structure.

For the 1st place, the amount is $15,865 USD. For the 2nd place, an amount of $13,221 USD is allocated, and lastly, for the 3rd place, the amount is $10,577 USD.

[Note: For this university, students from any corner of the world can apply for the scholarship. However, reapplication is not possible once a student becomes a part of this university. Also, it is not applicable if he/she receives other scholarship awards that are worth $3,966 USD.]

      Scholarships outside your selected university

If your university does not offer any of such scholarships, then no need to get disheartened. There are ample other scholarships for which you can easily apply. For example, if you belong from Australia or say New Zealand, you are entitled to acquire Commonwealth scholarships.

What are the types of student loans available here?

The Oxford University and the Cambridge University offer 4 variants of student loans for US candidates –

      • Direct subsidised: The payment for this loan starts after 6 months of your course completion. The interest does not get counted while the course is on.
      • Unsubsidised loan (Direct): Here, the interest starts to accumulate during the course only.
      • Parent PLUS: Payment starts right after the course completion, and the interest accumulates while you are studying the course.
      • Private loans: These are usually less stringent when compared to the federal ones mentioned above.

UK universities that have the cheapest financial requirement:

Affordability comes as the primary factor when you study abroad. Starting from selecting a location to the university, a budget-friendly study structure is what all students seek.

      1. St. John University

Tuition Fee – $11,234 to $15,199 USD every year.

Scholarships given – The St. John’s Aspire Scheme, which awards every student a $132 USD card.

      1. Royal Agricultural University

      Tuition Fee – $13,216 USD/year

Scholarships given – Achievers, Sports and VC Overseas Excellence are the three scholarships offered here.

Scholarships Awarded – 10% off for students paying off their fees before the notified date.

      1. Bedfordshire University

      Tuition Fee – $15,119 USD

Scholarships given – Vice Chancellor Scholarship

On an ending note… Studying in the UK foretells a story that is filled with anxiety and excitement. With the financial glitches resolved, it is going to be a worthwhile ride for you. All the Best!
